What should I do to back up a Youmehub database?
The goal of any backup strategy is to provide the complete backup data for those instances of failure or loss of your database. However with Youmehub Multi-User products, conventional backup strategies using incremental backup tools is unsatisfactory for an active database server.
Making copies of a ‘live’ database file that is in use by FileMaker Pro server will result in the newly created backup copy being corrupt and damaged. In the case of FileMaker Pro, an administrator must use the built-in backup scheduling capabilities of FileMaker Pro Server to make non-corrupted copies. If third-party backup software is used while the FileMaker Pro Server software is running, the backup copies of the database created by the third-party backup software will be corrupted and unusable.
Backing up Youmehub with FileMaker Server:
Use the FileMaker Server Schedule assistant to create a scheduled task to:
• back up all hosted databases
• back up hosted databases that are in a specified folder
• back up a specified database
To create a scheduled task for backing up databases, choose the Admin Console Schedules pane, select Create a Schedule from the Actions menu, and click Perform Action. Then, choose Back Up Databases, and specify whether you want to back up hourly, daily, weekly, or on a custom schedule.
Database backups are saved in the default backup folder or in a folder that you specify. You can specify the default backup folder on the Admin Console Database Sever > Default Folders tab. You can then move of copy the files to offsite storage or removable media.
When FileMaker Server backs up a database, it copies the database while it is active. Users can continue to make modifications. When the copy is complete, the database is paused to synchronise backup files with the current database and then the database is resumed. You can set options to verify the backup and send email notifications to clients.
Backing up Youmehub Single-User:
For Youmehub Single-User products we recommend that you select File > Backup from the menu which will create a backup copy of your ‘userData’ file. This file will be saved inside the Backup folder within the Youmehub folder. You can then move of copy the files to offsite storage or removable media. |
