Youmehub v2.x
Youmehub v3.x

How do I Migrate data from a previous version of Youmehub?

Youmehub provides a built-in tool to help you migrate your data and preferences from your previous Youmehub database file into the new database.

Note: If you are migrating from Youmehub version 1 to Youmehub version 2 or 3 please use the separate Youmehub v1 to v2 Migration Tool and follow the instructions provided. The Youmehub v1 to v2 Migration Tool can be downloaded from our web site at www.youmehub.com.

The steps listed below provide an overview of the migration process. See the remaining sections for more information about each step.

It is important to do the migration steps in the order they are presented. If you omit steps or don’t follow the sequence, Youmehub may not work properly or you may loose data.

For multi-user products follow these steps:
1. If the solution is being hosted using FileMaker Server make sure that all users are logged out of the database and then stop the FileMaker Server service to prevent users from accessing the database.
2. Make a backup copy of your current Youmehub database files.
3. Install the new software and add user accounts (if necessary).
4. Migrate your data from your previous Youmehub database files.
5. Confirm that migration was successful.

For single-user products follow these steps:
2. Make a backup copy of your current Youmehub database files.
3. Install the new software and add user accounts (if necessary).
4. Migrate your data from your previous Youmehub database files.
5. Confirm that migration was successful.

Step 1. Stop FileMaker Server
You must first stop the FileMaker Server service (Windows) or daemon (Mac OS) and the FileMaker Server Helper service (Windows) or daemon (Mac OS), then quit FileMaker Server Admin.
See ‘Stopping FileMaker Server (Windows)’ or ‘Stopping FileMaker Server (Mac OS)’ in the FileMaker Server 8 Administrators Guide.

Step 2. Make a backup copy of your current Youmehub database files
It is advisable to make a backup copy of the entire Youmehub XXX 3.00.01 folder which contains all database files. Copy the folder onto removable media such as CD R or DVD R disks, external hard drive or to a remote server.

Step 3. Install the new software and add user accounts
Mac OS: Double click the Youmehub installer package icon and follow the on screen instructions. The installer will install the software and database files into your Documents folder on your hard disk.

Windows: Copy the ‘Youmehub 3.00.01’ folder from the CD or ZIP archive to your ‘My Documents’ folder on your hard disk.

If you are using FileMaker Server to host this solution it automatically opens and hosts FileMaker Pro files in the ‘Databases’ folder. In this case copy the entire ‘Youmehub XXX 3.00.01’ folder into the ‘Database’ folder:

Mac OS: [hard disk]/Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Databases/
Windows: Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\Data\Databases\

Warning: Make sure you do not delete or overwrite your existing Youmehub database folder from your previous installation as this folder contains files with all your data.

Note: The migration tool does not migrate user accounts from Youmehub data files version 2.00.01 or earlier. In this case you will need to re-create new user accounts where necessary. When creating new user accounts try using the same account names as they were entered in the previous database.

Step 4. Migrate your data from your previous Youmehub data file
Before you begin to migrate your data, you must first copy the ‘UserData.ymh’ (single-user products) or ‘UserData.fp7’ (multi-user products) file from your previous working database into ‘[path to database]/Youmehub XXX 3.00.01/Resources/Import’ folder of the new database.
Launch Youmehub by double-clicking the ‘Youmehub.app’ file icon (Mac OS) or ‘Youmehub.exe’ (Win OS) or ‘Youmehub.fp7’ (multi-user) and then selecting Youmehub > Youmehub Preferences or clicking the preferences icon in the menu bar. Select Migrate in the Migrate menu an then follow the on screen instructions.

Note: You will be prompted for a user name and password to access your previous database on several occasions (approximately 44 times) as the migration script cycles through each database table performing the import process.

Warning: When you perform a migration Youmehub DELETES all exsisting records and system preferences and replaces them with the imported data and CAN'T BE UNDONE!.

Step 5. Confirm that migration was successful
Now go through each module and check that the data has imported correctly. Once you are happy with everything you can archive and remove the old version.
